Lisa Gardner is the director of communications and community engagement for the Spokane City Council. Before working with the council, Lisa was a communications and marketing consultant working with the City of Seattle Office of Economic Development, Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Microsoft. A native of Spokane, Lisa graduated from Eastern Washington University. After graduating from Eastern, Lisa moved to Maryland, where she received her master’s degree from the University of Maryland while working for the National Institutes of Health. Lisa has executed major events and community engagement efforts for brands such as Marriott, United Way, and McDonald’s. Lisa is happy to return home to Spokane, where she is picking up her community involvement with her most recent appointment to the executive committee of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP and her work with the Spokane Black Business and Professionals Alliance (BBPA). Lisa works directly with the council to implement community engagement efforts. Her involvement in the Juneteenth celebration highlights the city’s East Central 5th Avenue Initiative and cultural events in the neighborhood.
