As soon as you reach young adulthood, you may start to realize that some of your favorite holidays feel a little different. Take Halloween, for example. The days of trick-or-treating with your neighborhood friends may be long past, and now you probably resort to costume parties or simply taking things easy at home.
Regardless of what you do, the joys of Halloween are very much alive and well — and can still be celebrated. Thinking of having a Halloween night in this year? Here’s how to make the most of it:
Put on Your Comfiest (Festive!) Loungewear
Nothing beats wearing loungewear on a night in. Whether you have a festive, Halloween-themed set that you’ve been wanting to wear, or just something warm and comfortable that gives you all of the fall feels, there’s no better way to kick off a Halloween night in than wearing something cozy!
Grab Your Favorite Candy!
Need I say more? Usually it isn’t until Halloween that I’m reminded of so many of my favorite treats from childhood. This is the perfect night to grab the candy that you absolutely love and enjoy. You may even ignite some nostalgic memories of Halloween from when you were younger.
Watch a Horror or Thriller Movie
If you’re looking to get into a spooky mood, a scary movie is guaranteed to do the trick. Of course, scary movies aren’t for everyone, and that’s okay. If you’re not into it, there are so many feel-good Halloween movies that are sure to put you in a happy mood. Halloween Disney Channel original movies are my favorite choices for that. Now, if you are in the mood for something scary, the options on Netflix are plentiful and are usually my go-to.
Try a New ‘Spooky’ Recipe
I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about Halloween is that there are a plethora of recipes that add a “spooky” twist to the meals and drinks we love. On your Halloween night in, why not have a little fun in the kitchen? Not only is this a great way to try something new, but it’s a great way to push yourself creatively. If your friends will be joining you, this is a fun activity to do together!
Read Scary Stories
If horror movies aren’t enough to put you in a scary mood, reading might be the next best thing. A quick search for scary stories online or a spooky book you have in your collection is a great way to unwind but also keep you on your toes. If you’re someone who gets spooked pretty easily, try not to do this too close to bed!
One of the great things about Halloween is that there are so many activities to do that go beyond the tradition of trick-or-treating. It’s a day that cultivates a ton of creativity — and can be celebrated by people of all ages.
