Oops, she’s doing it again: Britney Spears is engaged to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari.
On Sunday, the queen of pop and Asghari revealed the news on Instagram with a cute video that showed off her massive diamond ring.
"Look at that," says Asghari of the sparkler in the video. "You like it?"
To which Spears exclaims: “YES!”
Of the impending nuptials, Asghari's manager Brandon Cohen told People that he is "proud to celebrate and confirm the engagement.”
"The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them," Cohen told the outlet, before adding that Spears' ring was designed by New York City jeweler Roman Malayev.
Spears and Asghari met on the set of her music video for "Slumber Party” in 2016. The duo were rumored to have been dating that fall and went Instagram official on New Year 2017. Asghari told Men's Health in 2018 that after he met Spears and did the video, he didn’t “think [she or I] had the intention to just be friends." He also shared that he cracked a joke to break the ice with her and recalled this anecdote: “She said, ‘Hi, I’m Britney,' and I said, ‘I’m sorry. What’s your name again?’ I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it.”
The pair ultimately exchanged numbers and, fast forward to today, now they’re getting married.
In response to the news that Spears, who is in the midst of a long-standing battle to regain control of her life and be released from a conservatorship, and Asghari are getting married, many — including actress Octavia Spencer — remarked that Spears needs to get a prenuptial agreement.
Displaying good humor, Asghari took to his Instagram Story on Monday to thank “everyone who is concerned about The prenup!”
“Of course we’re getting ironclad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day,” he wrote alongside a couple of laughing emojis.
