Who would’ve thought that social distancing would bring me even closer to my friends?

I may not have been able to physically be with my friends in a few months, but in a way, it’s allowed me to get closer to them in ways I didn’t realize.

For one, I’ve embraced the importance of checking in with them more often. This time of uncertainty has brought a lot of mixed emotions, both positive and negative.

The unknown can be a scary thing to come to terms with, and with more time on my hands, I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate what’s most important to me.

Checking in on my close friends and asking them how they’re doing has been one of them. It’s allowed me to really listen to them and acknowledge that I’m there for them, whenever they need me.

If anything, quarantine has allowed us to circle back into doing the little things that make us happy. I’ve had the opportunity to show immense support to my friends for their endeavors and projects they’ve been embarking on during the pandemic.

From celebrating the launch of their small business to sharing their newly published articles via social media, we’ve all become each other’s No. 1 (virtual) cheerleader.

We’ve been connecting in other fun ways, as well. Over the past few months, I’ve had my fair share of virtual birthday parties via online platforms and hangouts — something I never in a million years thought I’d be doing.

All in all, being away from my friends has brought me closer to them emotionally. While spending time with them in person is ideal, I know that once we reunite, I will learn to appreciate the little things more often.
