That Time My Ex Dumped Me on a Sticky Note

When I met my ex (let's call him Will) in person for the first time, I knew we would become a couple after we got into a heated debate about the best Guns N' Roses song. During our second date, he told me he really liked me within the first five minutes. A couple of weeks after that, he told me he loved me.
Will loved sticky notes. Will left sticky notes all over the place. I would wake up after he left for work to find a sticky note in the egg carton that said, “I love you more than all the stars in the universe.” Or a note on the mirror that said, “You’re my favorite little swimmer.”
But our relationship started to hit a rocky patch after I discovered his porn addiction. After weeks of arguing, I came home to find all my stuff sitting on my sofa with my key next to it. Will had broken up with me. ON A STICKY NOTE!
Of course, I was very angry. I didn’t have anyone to write notes for anymore. But I did have a boatload of excellent future sticky-note phrases in my phone. That’s when it dawned on me: I should put these sassy phrases on greeting cards. And poof! Crimson and Clover Studio was born. I started my own stationery company, it took off, I quit my 9-to-5 job, and now I work for myself.
And I have Will and his sticky notes to thank for all of it.
