Self-kindness helps build self-esteem, improves your connections with others, and is an empowering way to be healthy. Learn to tolerate your inadequacies and the mistakes you make in a gentle way. Stop requiring perfection from yourself, and allow room for error. Here are 12 ways to show yourself a little love.

Ways to Be Kind to Yourself:

  • When you make a mistake, don't call yourself names
  • Celebrate your accomplishments
  • Say nice things about yourself to other people
  • If someone says something offensive, tell them
  • Compliment yourself
  • Consider how you've grown
  • Forgive yourself
  • Don't describe yourself in permanent terms...failing does not make you a failure
  • Write positive affirmations and reflect on them
  • Unapologetically practice self-care
  • Acknowledge being overwhelmed by cutting back
  • Allow yourself to relax, guilt-free
