How To Date Yourself This Summer
Each summer is an opportunity to make memories with friends and loved ones. But sometimes, the best memories to make are the ones we make with ourselves. This summer, prioritize self-care by taking yourself on a date. Here are some solo date ideas to get you started this summer.
1Take a Trip to the Farmer’s Market
On weekend mornings, grab your best tote bag, and head to the farmer’s market to discover new produce, products, and flowers. It’s also an opportunity to support local artisans and farmers. At the farmer’s market, you can connect with others, and awaken some new interests of your own.
2Find the Best Scenic View in Your Area
Being consumed with work, family, and other obligations, it can be easy to miss out on the beauty that’s right in front of us. Relaxing in front of a scenic view is a great way to check in with yourself, make time for something other than life’s responsibilities, and enjoy stillness.
3Learn a New Skill
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t made time for? Is it cooking? Pottery? Learning a new language? Playing an instrument? Whatever it is, there’s no better time than the summer months to learn a new skill. Check out your local newspaper listings, community college, libraries, or schools and see what courses are being offered.
4Plan an Outdoor Picnic
Picnics don’t have to be formal or a big production. Simply pick up or make your favorite lunch, visit your local park, and enjoy the peace and quiet of just you, some nature, and your meal.
5Try a New Restaurant or Coffee Shop
We’re all guilty of saving a beautifully-reviewed restaurant or coffee shop on Instagram or TikTok for a special occasion. If you’re looking for an evening of entertainment to enjoy, try crossing off one of those places saved on your list and treat yourself.
