There are numerous physical, mental, and socio-emotional benefits to getting children outside. Spending time in nature helps to relieve stress, develop executive function and problem solving skills, builds confidence, and much more. When it’s a challenge to pull your kids away from modern technology distractions, pull out one or all of these six items to guarantee a spark in their curiosity and pull them out of the house and into nature.

1Exploring Nature Activity Book

This book contains 50 projects that promise to engage your child’s imagination and provide meaningful, fun learning opportunities. Using items from nature, your child will learn through hands-on experiences. Beautifully detailed illustrations make it easy for children to follow and explore the world around them.

2Shatterproof Magnifying Glass

A magnifying glass will delight any child and turn an ordinary outing into an extraordinary one. This magnifying glass encourages independence, sparks curiosity, and allows your child to see things in a way they haven’t before as they explore on a whole new level.

3Pocket Microscope

There is little more enticing for curious kids than being able to investigate nature on a scientific level while exploring outside. This microscope is light and easy to carry tucked into a pocket. It includes two specimen slides that can be used for the smallest discoveries, creating hours of fun outside.

From birds to bugs, and seeing far to near, binoculars encourage hours of independent exploration and a heightened curiosity. This set is small, easy to carry, and the resolution is excellent. A bonus is their shock resistance and sturdy construction, making them a good choice for any child explorer.

5Backpack Explorer Field Guide

This take-along field guide with magnifying glass is packed full of interesting facts and beautiful illustrations. It’s perfect for an afternoon of backyard exploring or hiking and is sure to entice children to learn more about nature.

6Gardening Tool Set

With spring approaching, many of us are thrilled with the prospects of planting. This gardening tool set encourages children to participate in the gardening planning and execution. The adorable apron has enough pockets for a child to carry everything they need to help. It even comes with a bug cage and a magnifying glass sure to maintain a child’s attention long after they are “done” with gardening.
