Sunscreen, The Number 1 Anti-Aging Product

Let’s face it, we know we should be wearing sunscreen. It’s the first line of defense when it comes to preventing skin cancer, the most common form of cancer in the United States — which an estimated one in five Americans will develop in their lives.

But, many women are unaware that sunscreen is the most important beauty. Sunscreen helps to prevent wrinkles and other signs of premature aging, saving you a lot of money on expensive anti-aging creams and procedures. And it’s not strictly for days at the beach, we should be wearing it every day — on all areas that experience sun exposure.

We are lucky to have a wide variety of sunscreens to choose from, many with other awesome ingredients to benefit your skin. Here are some of our favorites:

1Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Firming and Dark Spot Correcting Moisturizer, SPF 30

This sunscreen is luxury in a bottle. The cream blends in smoothly to a matte finish and corrects previous sun damage as it protects your skin. It firms your skin, making it a great moisturizer to put on prior to applying makeup. It’s a great sunscreen to splurge on for your face.

2Clarins Extra-Firming Day Cream SPF 15

This cream is a great choice for the winter months when an SPF 15 should be sufficient protection while still allowing some Vitamin D to sneak in from the sun. It helps to plump and firm your skin without causing breakouts, a great choice for days when you’re feeling a natural look.

3Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment, SPF 30

Dr. Jart has a whole line of skincare products for a variety of skin ailments. The Tiger Grass products are perfect for treating and covering redness caused by rosacea and other issues. It starts out green to balance out the red but then changes into beige as you blend. And, the ingredients work well even with sensitive skin.

4Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Matte, SPF 45

This innovative sunscreen is a 2021 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner. For years, products were made without regard for darker skin tones, including sunscreen. BIPOC women have had to deal with sunscreens leaving a white hue and residue, not blending in to match their skin. Not anymore with this matte gel formula featuring aloe, squalene, and shea butter.

5Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, SPF 40

Perfectly doubling as a makeup primer, this sunscreen goes on matte, leaving your skin smooth and silky. The clear formula is indeed unseen, in addition to being oil-free, scent-free, and reef-friendly. It’s so invisible that you can use it if you have a beard, making it a great household staple for the whole family.
