Moms of young children will most certainly relate to Alanis Morissette’s latest performance.

The singer debuted her new song, “Ablaze” in a virtual appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with her 4-year-old daughter, Onyx, by her side.

“To my girl, all your innocence and fire,” sings Morissette in the lyrics. “When you reach out, I am here, hell or high water. This nest is never going away. My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze.”

Throughout the performance, which included Morissette’s band members playing their parts individually from home, Onyx chimes in on the microphone by talking to her mom and interrupting her while she belts out the lyrics. The child even hits her mother with her headphones at one point.

Onyx asks her mom, “Did you say ‘family’?” Morissette responds, “I did say family.” At the end of the performance, Onyx tells Morissette, “So, your music’s done. Keep on singing.”

“Keep going?” asks Morissette. Onyx replies, “You can stop.”

Morissette’s performance of “Ablaze” is part of the release of her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road, which was released last week. The album covers everything from addiction to motherhood, and is her first record in eight years. Morissette shares her three children — Onyx, Ever, and Winter — with her husband, rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway.

On juggling motherhood and recording an album, Morissette told Today in an interview that “the multi-tasking has gone to a whole other level.”

“I can be recording a vocal, my son can be on top of my head, I could be breastfeeding," she told the outlet. "I could be stirring some pasta, writing lyrics, and recording at the same time."
