Camila Cabello's 'Cinderella' Doesn't Just Want A Prince — She Wants a Fashion Empire
The Cinderella you're used to is getting a whole new look: The trailer for the Amazon Prime Video iteration of the classic fairytale just dropped.
Starring Camila Cabello as our princess protagonist, nicknamed Ella, this Cinderella follows a seamstress who aspires to be a fashion designer and wants to make a name for herself. Prince Charming, played by Nicholas Galitzine, just happens to be woven into that journey.

Despite the changes to some of the classic Cinderella tropes, Ella is still an orphan living with her cruel stepmother — played by Idina Menzel — and gets visited by a fairy godperson who helps her get to the ball. That magical person is played by Pose star Billy Porter and has been renamed as "Fab G."
“Do you want to go to that ball and meet a bunch of rich people who will change your life,” asks Porter in the trailer.
On the decision to reinvent the fairy godmother element and position Porter as "Fab G," he told Today earlier this week that “very often our old fairytales can be slightly problematic for modern-day consumption."
"This version speaks to that as it is very much about the empowerment of women. As a result of the need and necessity to tell diverse stories that are inclusive," he explained.
Rife with elements that fans of other Cinderella-inspired flicks such as Ella Enchanted and Ever After will surely recognize, the film also stars Minnie Driver, James Corden, and Pierce Brosnan.
Many viewers have already been quick to lambast Corden's appearance as a mouse-turned-footman alongside fellow comedians James Acaster and Romesh Ranganathan. As Newsweek puts it, people shared their complaints about "the oversaturation of Corden in movies and musicals." Corden previously starred in musical films such as Cats, Into the Woods, Trolls, and The Prom.
However you feel about the casting choices, you can find Cinderella on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 3.
“Here’s a laugh, this girl fancies herself a businessman,” says a townsperson of Ella in the trailer.
