Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson are opening up about their decision to co-found a media company dedicated to mental health, getting fans curious about the brand.

In November, Gomez announced that she — alongside her mom, Teefey, and Newsette founder Pierson — would be launching Wondermind in February 2022. Wondermind’s site says it aims “to give you easy, doable ways to put your mental fitness first every single day” and, as said in a brief letter from the founders, create an “inclusive, fun, and easy place where people could come together to explore, discuss, and navigate their feelings.”

“We wanted to create something outside the box that gets into the dirt of what could really help people,” said Teefey in an interview with Newsette at the end of last year. She’ll be managing Wondermind’s creative content.

Gomez echoed the sentiment, crediting her mom for teaching her “everything.” In the same interview, Gomez shared, “Something I’ve always tried to do in my career is make sure I lend my voice to places where it matters.”

The singer and actress has never shied away from opening up about her mental health struggles and what she’s done to help herself. In a video on Wondermind’s Instagram page, she answered the question, “How do you take care of your mind?”

"Sometimes I'm not good at it. It just happens where I'll just wake up and I struggle maybe sometimes with just getting out of bed,” she says in the video. "What helps me, first and foremost, is just picking up the phone and calling someone. I constantly try to fill myself with knowledge of what it is that I am feeling and the triggers that happen to me. I think what really helps me understand myself a bit more is that I can take a step back and think of all the tools I've learned and try to implement them in my everyday life. That's usually what helps me."
