Jessica Alba and Joseph Gordon-Levitt embarked on a beauty routine together and opened up about parenthood in the process.

Alba, who founded the Honest Company, launched a YouTube channel earlier this year and welcomed the 500 Days of Summer star to join her ongoing series called Getting Honest. In the series, she goes through an easy skin routine alongside a guest as they discuss various topics.

In this episode, Gordon-Levitt speaks with Alba about the process of shooting a film and how he has to wear makeup on camera. He says he’s used to washing his face often.

At the start of the video, the duo begins using a cleanse, lending Alba to critique Gordon-Levitt at one point: "You're being very rough with your face," she says, laughing.

They go on to use konjac sponges, which Gordon-Levitt rubs over his skin and says, "Not gonna lie. That's pleasant. Feels nice."

After applying a face mask, the two stars discuss Gordon-Levitt’s online collaborative media platform, HitRecord, which produces everything from short films to books to DVDs.

“The thing that makes HitRecord unique is that it’s all about collaboration and people being creative together,” explains the 39-year-old, who went on to add that, despite the faults of the Internet, he remains “very optimistic that technology can be something that’s hugely positive.”

After washing off their masks, Alba and Gordon-Levitt talk earnestly about parenthood and the change that happens in your perspective when you become a parent.

Alba shares that she was always very serious because she started acting at a young age.

“I didn’t get fun until I became a mom,” she says. “Wanting to giggle with them. Wanting to pretend-play with them. The nighttime dance party with the kids became a thing. I think I found my inner child.”

“It does feel like you get to go back [to childhood],” responds Gordon-Levitt. “This time, I get to see it from the dad’s point of view, but it’s like the same story almost.”
