Lucie Arnaz has some thoughts about Nicole Kidman playing Arnaz's mother, Lucille Ball, in an upcoming biopic.

The 70-year-old talked to Palm Springs Life about the Aaron Sorkin-directed biopic, Being the Ricardos, which is currently filming. She shared her feelings about the Academy Award winner depicting her mom.

Of how Kidman embodied the iconic I Love Lucy star, Arnaz says Kidman "did a spectacular job."

Arnaz told the publication she watched two days of film, both of which featured Kidman as Ball in flashbacks "in the late '30s and mid-'40s."

"She wasn't Lucy of Lucy Ricardo fame yet, so it was a trifle different. And I know she meant it to be, so it could feel different. But boy, what she did was astounding. She's got such poise and class," explained Arnaz.

The film follows Ball and former husband (and Arnaz's father) Desi Arnaz "as they face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage," as per IMDB. Arnaz's famous father is portrayed in the film by Javier Bardem.

While the film purports to be biographical, Arnaz told Palm Springs Life that Sorkin did take "some theatrical license" and melded together a "couple of true events that did happen, they just didn't happen at the same time."

"But you do learn a lot about what it was like back then. [Sorkin's] dialogue is always incredible. And I think he treated my mother and my father really well," she stresses. "I think they are accurate composites of these people. And what I've seen of it... I haven't seen any of the rushes, but I was on the set for just two days. What I saw was extraordinarily classy and first rate. The people that he has cast are just really great performers."

Later in the interview, Arnaz added that she's "looking forward to seeing the finished product."
It's unclear when the film is slated for release, but based on this review, we'll be watching I Love Lucy reruns in anticipation for it.
