One of the world’s most famous couples now has a podcast: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Spotify announced that they’d worked out a deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, forming an exclusive partnership with their audio-first production company, Archewell Audio.

All for Charity

The undisclosed funds made from the deal will go to the couple’s charity.

In a joint statement on their podcast, the duo said: "What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction.”

"So many people have been through so much pain this year, but it feels worth acknowledging that 2020 has connected us in ways we could have never imagined, through endless acts of compassion and kindness."

Markle elaborates on that idea in a trailer for the podcast on Spotify: “One of the things my husband and I have always talked about is our passion for meeting people and hearing their stories. No matter what the story, they usually offer you an understanding of where someone else is coming from and, at the same time, remind you in some way, of a story about yourself.”

Harry chimes in shortly after to say: “And that’s what this project is all about. To bring forward different perspectives and voices that perhaps you haven’t heard before and find our common ground, because when that happens, change really is possible.”

Mystery Guests

The pair has not disclosed who they’ve interviewed yet, teasing their guests as simply "amazing people."

The couple did say their first episode will be a holiday special, though. "So many people have been through so much pain this year, experiencing loss, a huge amount of uncertainty, but it feels worth acknowledging that 2020 has connected us in ways we could have never imagined, through endless acts of compassion and kindness,” says Harry in the trailer.

News of the podcast comes amid a whirlwind year for the couple, who announced earlier this year that they would be stepping back as "senior" royals and work to become financially independent. Earlier this year, they signed a multi-year production deal with Netflix, and Markle even narrated the documentary Elephants on Disney+.
