Paul Rudd Jokes That His Wife Would've Voted Someone Else For People's Sexiest Man Alive
Paul Rudd was recently crowned People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2021, and apparently he thinks his wife would’ve nominated someone else to take the throne.
The 52-year-old dished to Extra TV on Tuesday that his wife of nearly two decades, producer Julie Yaeger, would have made an entirely different choice for this year’s sexiest man.
"No, she would have voted for Keanu Reeves,” said the Ant-Man star, before adding: "Come on, he's Keanu, I'd vote for him."
Such a response isn’t too far off from how Rudd responded to the honor, telling People: "I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I'd be picked for this, they would say, 'What?' This is not false humility. There are so many people that should get this before me."
While Reeves is arguably very sexy in his own right, he’s never been given the honor of Sexiest Man Alive. He was nominated in 1994 when People selected him, Hugh Grant, and Jim Carrey as “front-runners”, but he did not win.
Rudd is currently starring in Ghostbusters: Afterlife as Dr. Grooberson, alongside other familiar-face doctors including Dr. Peter Venkman played by Bill Murray, Dr. Ray Stantz played by Dan Aykroyd, and Dr. Winston Zeddmore played by Ernie Hudson. Dr. Egon Spengler, played by the late Harold Ramis, will not make a reappearance as Ramis passed away in 2014.
This iteration of the Ghostbusters franchise takes place 30 years after the previous film and “centers around a single mom and her two kids who arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind,” reports Extra.
On working with many of the original cast members in the film, Rudd told the outlet: “You look down and you just see those three guys standing there. There’s no way that you can’t get a little nervous or excited. It’s like, there they are — I still feel that.”
