This post is part of a monthlong April CircleAround series, tied to Earth Day. A 2018 U.N. report warned that, as relates to climate change, we had until 2030 to make drastic changes to avoid irreversible negative consequences. We asked writers — and readers — to share news and advice on what we all can do to help, or stories on inspirational women in the climate space. To see all the posts in the series, visit here. And if you'd like to contribute to the series, send us your thoughts to info@circlearound.com or post on our "2021 Inspiration Wall."

There are endless ways for you to protect this earth — from the way you do things in your daily routine to the places you choose to shop. When I shop, I’m constantly treating myself to beauty products. As Earth Day approaches, I'm taking the time to reflect on the brands that are doing their part to be environmentally friendly. Below are some beauty brands I love that are making an effort to be kind to the earth.

Whamisa US

Whamisa is a vegan Korean skin care brand that I had the pleasure of trying recently. I was so impressed with its wonderful products and the packaging they came in, which is made from sustainable materials. And the company always makes sure to provide full transparency about its carbon footprint.

Ren Clean Skincare

Ren is a skin care brand that prioritizes clean products. Its skin care line works well with all skin types, and its bottles and tubes are made from ocean plastic and various recycled materials. The company partners with organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation in order to keep sustainability top of mind.

Nourish Beauty Box

This monthly beauty subscription box takes customers and the planet into account with every product. The subscription boxes consist of bionatural, organic and wild-crafted products. If you’re looking to discover unique offerings from an eco-conscious brand, Nourish Beauty Box is a great way to start.

Lush Cosmetics

When you think of environmentally friendly beauty products, Lush Cosmetics may come to mind. At Lush, you'll find handmade skin care products and cosmetics that are 100% vegetarian, using ethically bought ingredients. You'll also find waste-free products, such as its shampoo bars, that uses no packaging at all.

Youth to the People

This brand has a solid, clear statement about its commitment to sustainability. It uses clean, vegan, cruelty-free and biodegradable formulas. It also uses glass bottles and jars, as well as postconsumer materials, such as in their boxes, whenever possible. The glass jars make amazing planters once you’re finished with a product.

If you're looking to transform your beauty or skin care collection with brands that are working to make a change to protect our earth, start with the brands above!
