The Importance of Wearing a Mask

As you all know, it is super important these days to wear a mask. In most states, this is even mandated. During the beginning of this pandemic, I saw a lot of people out and about not wearing a mask. However, in all fairness to these people, we did not know early on how essential masks were in keeping the virus from spreading.

These days in Rhode Island, mostly everyone is wearing masks. I love going into the supermarket or pharmacy and seeing every single person wearing a mask. Just like jewelry is a form of an accessory, masks can be wonderful accessories, too. You can dress them up or down, and even match them to your outfit.

Many major companies have stepped up to the plate and begun to sell a wonderful assortment of masks. I have also found a lot of friends who make masks out of logos and various fabrics. There is such creativity in this age with mask masking.

Doing Your Part

Our wonderful babysitter has really stepped up to the plate. She is very into fashion and has a lot of fabric lying around. She decided to put her ability to use by making masks and selling them, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to charities like cancer research, which she's very passionate about. It is truly incredible what she is doing. She made my eldest and I a Lilly mask, and she is making my daughter a Frozen mask. Her creativity is endless, but even better, her heart is made of gold.

No matter what type of mask you have, be sure to wear it with your mouth and nose covered. Whether you think masks help or not, you should wear one. It's that simple — it's a matter of saving lives.
