Kelly Lester is the “mompreneur” behind EasyLunchboxes — a company that produces reusable -friendly packaging for lunchbox essentials. “The idea came from a desperate need to pack lunches easier and faster for three children who liked different things,” Lester tells CircleAround. EasyLunchboxes are designed to be compact and environmentally-friendly. They have three compartments so parents can pack healthy components for their kids easily.

Bringing Her Idea to Life

Lester was inspired to create her product after realizing there wasn’t anything on the market similar to it. “I got this idea in my head that maybe I should design a lunch container myself,” Lester says. Her idea was inventive and original: one lunch box with three different spaces to allow for fast and organized food prep. Following her intuition, Lester figured if she was a busy mom struggling with lunch packing problems, then there must be other busy moms out there who’d like the idea too.

An Entrepreneurial Spirit

With help from her husband, she eventually found a manufacturer, and a new lunchbox was ready to be unboxed. “I had invested all of our money in the product but had no way to market it,” she tells CircleAround. But Lester’s entrepreneurial attitude took over and she decided to share her product with mommy bloggers. “Very quickly, it blew up,” she recalls. Bloggers gave her EasyLunchboxes outstanding reviews, which led to her product being Number One in lunch containers on Amazon four years in a row. “It was incredible and I ran the entire business from my home office.”

Trusting When To Let Go

Trusting her intuition allowed Lester to take those first steps in creating a successful business, and it was also her gut that told her in 2019 it was time to let go. Feeling complete in her mompreneur journey, she found a buyer who believed in her mission to help out busy moms. “I'm very proud of what I started….and I’m thrilled the company has continued to grow.”

The Bottom Line

Lester believes being kind and appreciative, no matter the situation, is the biggest key to her success. “I really grew my business based on that.” Lester advises other mompreneurs: “If you can prove what you have to offer is needed, then you've already overcome the first major hurdle. Go for it.”
